THANK YOU!!

I wanted to thank you all for the amazing support you have shown Positivity and the families we are trying to help.  It really is making a difference. When I sat down today to figure out how much money Positivity has disbursed in the year since we started. I was quite happily surprised.

Positivity has raised just at $1000!!!  6 families (adopting a total of 8 children) have been blessed by the people who have supported Positivity!!  That is amazing. I can't wait to see what else we can accomplish.

We are working on organizing classes that will benefit adopting families.  Up first will be sewing.  Will announce details on these classes soon. Coming up will be canning, gardening, cooking, knitting, and hopefully many more.

Our own family has been so blessed by hundreds and hundreds of amazing, caring, generous people.  We look forward to next year being the year that we help pay it forward with the support and love of so many wonderful people. If you want to be a part of Positivity please stay tuned for ways you can help!

Also-We still have several ornaments left for this year!!  They are a beautiful and meaningful addition to your tree.  Start a special tradition by adding a Positivity ornament to your tree each year!

A NOTE ABOUT THE ORNAMENTS:

The team here at Positivity had a very different vision for these ornaments.  My husband, an artist, wanted them PERFECT. He wanted a stencil so they would all be just alike, have neat edges and very straight lines.  In my mind they were each a little different, rough around the edges, not perfectly symmetrical, but still BEAUTIFUL.  The kids we are reaching with Positivity are individuals.  These kids may be seen as a little rough around the edges.  But they are so beautiful and so deserving.  They are viewed as "imperfect", but they are perfect just the way they are.  And adoption is messy.  It isn't always straight lines and it looks different for every family.

Guess who won?  Each of these ornaments is hand painted without a stencil or a pattern.  They are straight from our heart to yours.  Like the children they will help to bring home, they are not cookie cutter, but they are just as they are supposed to be.  We hope you love them and that they bring another level of meaning and joy to your Christmas!

Ornament Time Again!! Meet The Twietmeyers!

I know I have not been keeping up with Positivity as I would have liked. I promise I have a good reason.  You can catch up with all that HERE and HERE.

But, I still VERY much want to help other people bring their babies home. And we have found the perfect family to sponsor this year.  Meet the Twietmeyer family.

The Twietmeyers have done a whole lot of good for a whole lot of children and families. Please read and learn more about the organization they started, Project Hopeful.   I want to help this family because without Project Hopeful one of my girls would not be home, and the other would not be on her way home.

But besides being an awesome family, their son is in a mental institution in EE and needs out as quickly as possible.  He is worthy and wonderful.  He is loved and wanted.  But his family needs help to get to him.  This is where you can come in.

We are donating the funds from our Ornament sales to their adoption fund this year. The cost of the ornaments is $10.  Your $10 donation is tax deductible. To order your ornament there are 3 easy steps.

1. You can donate the $10 by clicking on that button right down there.

Christmas Ornaments

It is time for our first fundraiser!  Let's give your tree a little Positivity!

We are selling Christmas Ornaments for $10.00 a piece.    They are silver balls with the positivity logo on them and they are hand painted!  This is our first project!   You will get a pretty, shatter proof  ornament in a gift bag and the satisfaction of knowing you are helping a great cause-helping families bring their children (who happen to have a chronic illness) home to their families.

If you live out of state, or need them mailed to you, we can ship them for $5.00 (so your total would be $15.00).  I will try to find a cheaper way to ship them ASAP!  To order you can pay by paypal to kateh@bellsouth.net or you can pay cash/check locally.  Just let me know how many ornaments and how to get them to you.  We will take orders until the 18th so that we can get them made and to you by Christmas.  Thanks!

Thanks so much for your support!

What is positivity?

Positivity will hopefully one day be MANY things. Today, the main goal is to provide families adopting children with HIV grant money to help cover their mountain of adoption expenses.  It takes tens of thousands of dollars to adopt a child.  The average cost of an adoption is about $25,000 (the figures can vary pretty widely depending on where you are adopting from, but it is almost always expensive).  Most people do not have tens of thousands of dollars at their disposal.

There are estimated 2 million  HIV positive orphans in the world.  With access to medication and care, these children can lead a normal, full life.  HIV is considered a chronic, manageable illness. HIV can not, and has never been, transmitted through normal household contact: kissing, hugging, eating, drinking, bathroom use, coughing, sneezing, vomit, sharing toys, swimming, shaking hands, etc.  HIV can ONLY be transmitted through unprotected sex, birth and breastfeeding, and IV drug use.

There is no reason these children should sit in orphanages without the love of a family.  These children are real, and their future is bleak without a family.  When a family does realize that a child with HIV is their child, money should not stop them from being able to bring their child home.  We want to help them to do that.  We need your help to help them.

Our first step is to become a 501(c)3 non profit so that when people donate to Positivity, their gift is tax deductible.  Once we have finished that process every cent donated will be put into grant funds for families in the process of adopting children who are living with HIV.  Families applying for grants will need to submit a completed home study from a licensed agency so that we can verify that they are using the funds for the adoption of an HIV positive child.

We will be doing several, awesome fundraisers throughout the year that will go to these grant funds.  Our first fundraiser will be announced very shortly!

So, that is what Positivity is about.  We are simply a family that has been touched by orphans and by HIV.  We want to give back because so many people have given us so much.  If you would like to help us on our mission, please spread the word and donate if you can.  We are also looking for an attorney to help us become a non profit and we are working on the grant process.  Any help with those things would be greatly appreciated.   Thank you so much.  I can't wait to see what BIG things we can do for the little ones of this world.
